Individual Student Schedule Pieces

Over the years, I've created, used, and refined visual schedule pieces based on what worked best for my students. After 25 years in the classroom, these are the pictures and tools I came to rely on most!

These multicultural Individual Student Schedule Pieces have been used in K–5 and special education classrooms to help students understand their day, know what comes next, and build independence. Whether displayed on a classroom wall, attached to a clipboard, or used on the go, they make it easy to create a visual schedule that fits each student's needs.

Visual schedules can support communication, understanding routines, task completion, smoother transitions, and greater independence.

What's Included?

  • 172 premade schedule pieces covering activities and routines throughout the school day

  • Pieces for special activities and unexpected changes, including a visual warning for schedule changes

  • A First-Then board

  • Two individual schedule boards: one in color and one in black and white

  • A page of blank schedule pieces you can print and write on for activities not included

  • An editable Google Slides page where you can add your own pictures and create additional pieces

  • Pieces approximately 1 inch in size, easily resized on a copy machine

Pictures That Make Sense to Kids

These pictures have evolved through the years as I've learned what students recognize and respond to best. I chose graphic picture symbols because I found them easiest for my students to identify and understand.

Most pieces are not labeled with words, giving you the flexibility to use them in whatever way works best for your students. I recommend choosing a unique picture for each activity so students can easily recognize what comes next.

I've also included an editable Google Slides page so you can add real photographs when needed. I found these especially helpful for specific places where a student needs to sit, items they need to use, or familiar people throughout the school building.

Coordinate with Classroom Board Schedule Pieces

I also created Classroom Board Schedule Pieces that coordinate with the pictures in this individual set. Using the same pictures on classroom and individual schedules helps keep visuals consistent, making it easier for students to recognize activities and understand what comes next. You can purchase both resources together and receive a 10% discount!

Even better, these Individual Schedule Pieces also coordinate with my special area schedule bundles for music, art, gym, library, lunch, and bus. This makes it easy to keep visuals consistent throughout the school day, wherever students go!
